Crappy Game but a SUPER Bowl anyway.....

Superbowl was weird this year. The whole thing sort of sneaked up on me. We were going to have a big shindig but I didn't get invites out and it looked impossible to plan. The weather was so bad on the east coast that they weren't positively saying that it would be on Sunday this year...(maybe Saturday, Maybe Monday...what?!?!). So we decided to go low-key this year, just have Mine and Jeff's parents over. I still decorated and had WAY too much food.

The game was a total bust. Regardless of who you were rooting for (we unfortunately wanted Denver to pull it off) the game stunk. The commercials were Eh, Halftime was okay but not brilliant. Overall it would have been pretty disappointing except the food was fantastic (Jeff even grilled!) the company was excellent and the kids were super cute.

 Next Year.... GO BEARS!!!!

SNOW much fun!

It has been relatively warm here. Compared to the frigid temperatures the rest of the country is having it has been down right balmy. We have had some good snow storms the last couple of weeks, giving us wonderful snow to play in. Here is a glimpse at some of the fun we've been having.

Big A said "Hey let's name him frosty!" Not very original....

Last Hurrah of Warm(er) Weather

A couple of weekends ago we decided to go for a drive up Millcreek Canyon to check out the Fall Colors. When we got to the top of the canyon we got out to stretch our legs and the kids wanted to hit the trail. We went for a little bit but since we had not planned on hiking we were not ready (a in canvas summer shoes, Me in cute leather flats, no warm jackets).

This past weekend was supposedly the last warm weekend of the year (if the weatherman can be believed?!?!?). The weather was that perfect fall "cool" with the sun brightly shining. We headed back up Millcreek, this time totally ready and decided to hike the "Mountain Aire" trail. It was perfect, not too steep. Little a was such a trooper, she hiked the whole trail with us, never letting anyone carry her at all.

It was the perfect way to enjoy the last remnants of warm fall weather. A and a loved it and can't wait to go hiking again!

My sentiments exactly...

After a nice hiatus from work for our awesome Disneyland adventure (I will post all about it as soon as my Disney photo pass CD arrives!) it was time get get ourselves into gear and go to work. This means our whole clan has to get up early. This is what happened after I woke up big a...

Big a: "Sweetie girl time to get up." and kisses her cheeks
Little a: "Hmmmm NO bruder I'm too tired!"
Big a: "but we have to get up and get dressed."
Little a: " No bruder I'm just going back to sleep!" and she turns over and snuggles back in.
Big a: huge smile - "That is a brilliant idea!" and snuggles in around her.

** little a calls big a "Bruder" or brother for those who don't speak toddler.

"Birthday Cake" Cookies

I realized it has been well over a month since I last posted a cookie recipe....far too long! Here is a fun one that you can easily adapt for any holiday (just change the color of sprinkles you use!). It's easy, your kids can help and it makes up some awesome chewy, flavorful cookies.

Birthday Cake Cookies

 Makes 2 Dozen

1 box white cake mix (18.25 oz)
1 tsp baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 C vegetable oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 C Sprinkles (Pick your Color to match the occasion!)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a mixing bowl, mix together the dry cake mix and baking powder. Add the egg, oil and vanilla to the cake mixture stir to combine. Grab your "helpers" to sprinkle in the sprinkles! Stir in the sprinkles.  Drop by spoonfuls onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes (I turn the sheet at 5 minutes for more even baking). Bake until lightly browned (don't over bake). They will be very soft at first and need to cool a bit to harden up enough to pick up. Let sit for 5 minutes after baking before you try to move them from the tray then enjoy.

Deja Vu

Big A loves his little sister. He calls her sweetheart, kisses the top of her head and if anyone one is bothering her he yells "Leave my SIS-ter ALONE! He however has very little patience with her and her baby ways. I saw this in the paper last weekend and had a Major Deja Vu feeling!
