Crazy Corn Maze... Be A-MAZED!!!

Halloween is one of my Favorite holidays (okay , okay...it probably is my favorite holiday!). I like to go full out and do lots of fun Halloween things with A and A. I mean Halloween is not embedded with present buying or family functions, no real pressure (like some other red and green holidays). It's all fun and games and I want to make the most of it.

As we started making our spooky plans the first thing both A and A mentioned they wanted to do wa the Crazy Corn Maze again. Last year we took them and weren't sure what to expect...they LOVED it! SO the Crazy Corn maze was back on the list!

We decided to mix it up a bit this year and start a bit later in the evening so it got dark about half-way though the maze. It was perfect! the kids got to be in the depth of the maze and get comfortable while it was still light and then got to enjoy the spookiness of finishing up in the dark...perfect!

The Crazy Corn maze is the perfect size...long enough to make it worth your wild but not so long that the kids (and you) get bored. The price is right the size is perfect and the fall fun is plentiful... what are you waiting for???

My Little Pilgrims

One of my Favorite Thanksgiving traditions is to dress up A and a and take some pics of my cute pilgrims. I worry this is the last year Big A is going to let me do a "Pilgrims" photo shoot. I decided to go all out this year and do it at Gardner Village. Big A kind of freaked out "I look like  DORK!" I assured him that is was Sunday and Gardner Village was closed so no one would be around. I did not tell him I planned on plastering the pics around the house and on line. The resulting pics turned out TOO cute and the Pilgrim pieces from last year still fit so no sewing for Momma this year (yea!) I hope next year Big A will think it's ironically cool and do it again but alas I don't think too man 8-year-olds get ironically cool....

"Hike" at Silver Lake ... Perfect for the kiddos

We are so lucky to live in a place so full of beauty. I'm sure every one thinks this of where they live; be it the ocean, the desert, the bright lights of the city. But to me few things can compare with the beauty of the mountains surroundung Salt Lake City.

I have heard about this wonderful family friendly hike at Silver Lake just up Big Cottonwood Canyon and have been wanting to check it out for awhile now. This Saturday we had the rarity of nothing planned and the weather was gorgeous so I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to check it out.

About 30 minutes away right outside of Brighton ski resort is Silver Lake. It is a breathtaking spot nestled in the mountains. The "Hike" was a super easy and consisted of an even boardwalk for about 2/3 of the way around the lake. It was pretty and fun, long enough to make it worthwhile but short enough the kids weren't complaining at the end. We packed a picnic and ate first. It was a perfect day playing in the beauty of our "backyard"!

Boo to the Zoo

Everyone I know has taken their kids to the zoo. I have heard nothing but raving reviews about the zoo since Big A was a Baby. It’s supposed to be AMAZING. For Big A’s Birthday my Mom and Dad decided it would be fun to take us on an excursion to the Zoo. They too had heard nothing but raves about it. A and A were So excited when we told them that was where we were headed.

We went, we saw and ehhh. I will preface this with the fact that I have never loved the Zoo, even as a little kid I hated it. The heat, the smells… not my thing. But I was going with a total open mind, I hadn’t been in years and years and was excited to see A and A experience it.  Maybe it’s because it’s fall or something but there were not a LOT of animals really. Lots of big beautiful areas that were empty. The merry-go-round was fun but A and A do that all the time at the mall (and for ½ the price). The Train ride was literally like 2 minutes long and SO not worth the $10. Our Zoo is set at the base of a canyon and it’s a vast sprawling place…. Really a little too sprawling, Big A said “We’ve been walking for EVER!!!” He was totally pooped by the end. Speaking of… The kids FAVORITE thing at the Zoo???? The Elephants went to the bathroom…#1 and #2 right in front of us….

I’m sure one day we will look back fondly at our Zoo trip. It will be remembered as a fun adventure for Big A’s 6th birthday, but I don’t see us going back anytime soon….

Take Me Out to the Ball Game....

Spring is here and Summer is fast approaching. That can mean only one thing... Little League Season!!! Our time has been spent at practices and cheering on Big A.

He moved up in the League this year, no more Tee-Ball for our little slugger. he is officially in Single-A (Coach Pitch) this year. He plays for the Lugnuts. He is youngest kid on the team and the tallest.

His game has vastly improved and we are only half way through the season. I think is has something to do with his Handsome coach this year. I can say that because Jeff is his coach. He has been trying to drill the basics into the team. We have seen major improvements already.

On a side note I have made use of my newly acquired jewelry making skills and created "baseball" themed earrings for me and my Mom to wear while cheering on our little slugger. I was super pleased with how they turned out!

SNOW much fun!

It has been relatively warm here. Compared to the frigid temperatures the rest of the country is having it has been down right balmy. We have had some good snow storms the last couple of weeks, giving us wonderful snow to play in. Here is a glimpse at some of the fun we've been having.

Big A said "Hey let's name him frosty!" Not very original....
